For sophomore inspire week, I took part in painting a mural for the Rainbow Youth Center. Our group included eight students and one supervisor in a narrow hallway with barely any plan for what we would paint. The only bit of an idea that we had come up with beforehand was Earth with a rocket propelled by a rainbow shooting off of it, leaving us to bring other space themed ideas into the painting while we were painting. I had quite a bit of fun, but when other students started bringing out the "reference" pictures I was a bit annoyed because they were directly plagiarizing other artists' designs (I'm all for using reverence photos, I just have a problem with directly copying and recoloring that exact photo without crediting its original creator). The narrow hallway wasn't too much of an issue, at least for me. As long as we were patient with each other when waiting to paint in an area that another person was also painting in, we could just take a few breaks or switch to a different task, which was refreshing. Though, I did feel somewhat left out or ignored at times, most likely because I tend to be quite, which made collaboration a bit difficult for me.
Overall, I had fun, I love painting.
